Why Choose OT: Expanding Our Reach, Deepening Our Impact

Over the past year, Why Choose OT has evolved from building momentum to driving measurable impact nationwide. With nearly 400 million digital impressions, expanded outreach through events, and new tools in development, we are not just raising awareness; we are changing how people discover and understand occupational therapy.

Connecting With Future Health Professionals

We have already hit the ground running in 2025, meeting students where they are, whether in classrooms, at conferences, or on social media.

At the 2025 HOSA International Leadership Conference, we exhibited, presented, and hosted our first-ever OT competition, awarding scholarships to 11 outstanding students and celebrating future healthcare leaders. We also partnered with Belmont University to provide a behind-the-scenes experience in their simulation lab, where students got hands-on exposure to OT and other health professions.

In addition, we attended six HOSA state conferences—California, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania—where we engaged directly with students exploring healthcare careers. Our message was clear: OT belongs wherever future professionals are choosing their path.

NBCOT Ambassadors have been instrumental in extending our reach by visiting schools, presenting at career fairs, and participating in community events to introduce OT to even more students locally.

Expanding OT’s Presence Among Educators and Career Influencers

This year’s outreach has also focused on showing up in spaces where career decisions are shaped. In June, we attended the National AHEC Organization (NAO) Biennial Conference and the Northeast Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NEAAHP) Conference. These events connected us with educators, advisors, and other health profession leaders, helping ensure that OT is part of the broader conversation on healthcare workforce development.

Strengthening Resources and Support

We are continuing to invest in tools that help programs and ambassadors promote occupational therapy in their communities. Currently in development:

  • Expanded content on whychooseot.com
  • New student-friendly and educator-focused materials
  • Outreach tools for OT and OTA programs
