Frequently Asked Questions
Results from the self-assessment provide you with a self-perceived indication of your preparedness for the NBCOT exam. The results are broken down by the domains of the exam content outline for you to see your high priority learning needs and areas where you feel more confident. You can use these results to develop or adjust a personalized study plan that works for you.
It is completely up to you what you do with the results of your self-assessment. If you want, you can email the results to yourself or download the results to your computer. Or you may choose to email your results to an advisor, a professor, or a fieldwork supervisor if you think sharing your results would be helpful to your overall exam preparation strategy.
You may want to start with targeting a date to take the NBCOT exam, then develop a realistic study schedule using your self-assessment results as a guide. Think about the commitments in your life (e.g., family responsibilities, work, personal needs) that will influence your ability to commit to your study plan and be sure to reward yourself for sticking to your plan! If you think it would be helpful, the NBCOT Exam StudyPack® includes My Study Plan, which allows you to create an online study schedule.
